I was contacted by a lady who has 8 dogs. At first, when she asked me if I would do it, I honestly didn’t know if I could handle so many dogs. But I felt ready for a new challenge!
In October, I had the pleasure of meeting Molly, a tiny rescue dog from Bosnia, and June, a rescue Husky from the U.S., while enjoying the beautiful autumn colors in Belgium.
This August brought me to the Netherlands, where I stayed with two amazing Golden Retrievers named Zazu and Summer in a nature reserve called Hoge Veluwe.
Summer has now kicked off and this is every year high-season for dogsitting. What I like about being a dogsitter is that there is always so much variation and each experience is so different.
Dogs are the best anti-depressants! Did you know that dog-owners are much less likely to become depressed than people living without pets?
Many of the dogs I have been a sitter for, are rescue dogs. They are always the most lovable and thankful of all dogs; they appreciate every day that they have been given a warm home and seem to know how lucky they are. They have learned to love and trust again, thanks to all the amazing volunteers along the way that have made their new life possible and to their new compassionate family.
Dog grooming is not just about making your dog look better. Before attending a dog grooming course, I had never given it a thought that dog grooming is also about animal welfare. It is important for maintaining the overall health and well-being of your dog.
